DDPP Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project

Project description

Switzerland participates in the international Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project (DDPP), an initiative launched by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI). The objectives of the DDPP are to:

  • prepare practical national deep decarbonization pathways to 2050, consistent with the 2°C target, for each participating country, to help it identify its own cost-effective transition path to a low carbon future.
  • contribute to a positive result of the international climate summits by making governments, businesses, and civil society understand how deep decarbonization can practically be achieved in each country.
  • provide analytical platforms in each participating country to conduct additional climate policy analyses.
  • build an on-going global network of experts and practitioners, by using the pathways prepared as the basis for further work on the implementation of national deep decarbonization strategies, and by applying the methodological tools developed to other countries and regions.

This project is the Swiss contribution to the international DDPP. It was realized by LEURE in partnership with INFRAS, from May 2014 until December 2016. The final report should become available in 2018. Several publications reporting on our results are referenced below.
